Fractional CFO, Controller and Accounting | Plano, Texas | Since 2009

We turn on the lights for CEOs who have been forced to lead in the dark.

Most owners we meet are not in trouble. They are in the dark. The P&L says one thing, the bank account says another, and the person who should explain the gap is also running sales, payroll and the Monday meeting. We give owners of $5M to $50M businesses a dedicated CFO team, clean numbers, and a cash picture they can plan around.

The starting point

The problem usually sounds like this.

We hear the same three sentences in almost every first meeting. None of them is about effort. Owners work plenty hard. They are steering with instruments that are three months late.

"We are profitable. So why is there never any cash?"

Even profitable companies scramble for payroll and vendor terms when there is no reliable cash flow forecast.

"I cannot make this call with the numbers I have."

Hiring, pricing, acquisitions and raises all suffer when the data underneath them is not clean.

"I am the CEO and the CFO, and neither job is getting done."

The owner spends the best hours of the week chasing reports instead of building the business.

The root issue is never effort. It is leading without clean, reliable visibility.

Who we serve

Five kinds of companies. One model for all of them.

Every client gets the same structure: a dedicated CFO, a Senior CFO backup, the Clarity Code and investor-grade reporting. What changes is where we start.

Founder-led and early-stage

"We grew, but I still do not know if we are actually making money."

The first real finance function, built foundation first.

Scaling and growth-stage

"Revenue is up. Margins are down. Nobody can tell me why."

Board-ready reporting, margin discipline, and a capital structure that fits the stage you are in.

Read more about scaling companies

Exit-oriented and owner-led

"I want to sell in 24 to 36 months. My books are not ready."

Investor-grade financials built 12 to 24 months early, so diligence supports your price instead of cutting it.

Nonprofit leadership

"The mission is clear. The financials are not."

Fund accounting, grant compliance, audit and Form 990 support, and board reporting. For grant-dependent organizations, a days-cash-on-hand trigger plan so the board decides in a calm room what it will do in a crisis.

Trades and construction

"We could bid bigger jobs if our bonding could handle them."

HVAC, plumbing, electrical, GC and specialty contractors. WIP reporting for your surety, bonding capacity that grows with the pipeline, and cash timing around retainage.

Fractional CFO Leadership

"I am the CEO and the CFO, and neither job is getting done."

  • A dedicated CFO plus a Senior CFO backup. You never depend on one person.
  • A weekly cadence, a monthly CEO briefing and quarterly strategy sessions.
  • Books brought to GAAP, with automation and internal controls in place.
  • Your existing bookkeeper or controller elevated, not replaced.
  • Counsel on the decisions that will not wait for the monthly meeting.

Where we have done it

FirstFitness Nutrition. Sharpened revenue strategy, refined pricing, uncovered true cost-to-serve and introduced forecasting tools in the first 90 days.

Essential Lending. A CFO partnership since 2015: investor reporting, cash flow planning, 1, 3 and 5-year projections, and a debt capital raise.

Cash Flow Strategy

"We are profitable. So why is there never any cash?"

What we do

  • A 13-week rolling cash flow forecast, updated weekly.
  • Working capital: collections, DSO and vendor terms.
  • Burn rate, runway and cash conversion speed, tracked.
  • Banking relationships and line of credit readiness.
  • Early warning thresholds, so a crunch is visible months out.

Where we have done it

Fire protection and detection company. Built job estimating tools and cash forecasting models, sped up collections and renegotiated supplier terms.

Boutique Colorado hotel and restaurant. Brought the books current, built 13-week and quarterly cash projections, and secured bank refinancing and a line of credit.

How it works

The Clarity Code.

The same four moves on every engagement, whatever the starting point. The order matters. You cannot fix what you have not found, and you cannot keep a fix that nobody owns.

  1. STEP 1

    Discover

Map your real financial position, so decisions rest on data rather than estimates.

  2. STEP 2

    Diagnose

Surface where margin leaks, where cash is stuck, and which moves actually carry weight.

  3. STEP 3

    Deploy

Build the forecasts, dashboards and controls that make clarity a permanent condition.

  4. STEP 4

    Drive

Keep initiatives weighted, resourced and on track as conditions shift.

The low-risk way to begin

Financial Assessment

  • Three to four weeks, with a defined start and finish
  • A fixed fee, quoted before any work begins
  • A written answer: where you stand and what to fix first
  • Findings you keep, whether or not you engage us afterward
Ongoing partnership

Fractional CFO Leadership

  • A dedicated CFO plus a Senior CFO backup on every account
  • A weekly cadence, a monthly CEO briefing, quarterly strategy
  • Books brought to GAAP, with automation and controls in place
  • Scoped to your complexity, and adjusted as your needs change

What we build first: the Keystones

Most of the trouble we find in a growing company traces back to four missing processes. We put these in before anything fancy.

Financials to GAAPClean books and controls, closed within 15 days.
Monthly KPIsThe handful of numbers that actually drive decisions.
13-week cash flowA windshield, not a rearview mirror.
3-year projectionKnow what the company is worth now, and where it is headed.

Nobody carries your numbers alone

  • Dedicated CFO. Knows your business and owns the finance function day to day.
  • Senior CFO backup. Reviews the work, weighs in on hard calls, and steps in when your CFO is out.
  • Firm-level review. Every active engagement is reviewed twice a week.

Buffalo Strategic Books

  • Full-service bookkeeping: AP and AR, reconciliations, month-end close, payroll, 1099s and tax support.
  • Every entry overseen by an experienced accountant and reviewed by your CFO.
  • Works in QuickBooks, Xero, MYOB, Access, Excel and Google Sheets. QuickBooks ProAdvisor Elite.

What we are

  • A team, with a senior CFO backing up your CFO. You never depend on one person.
  • A partner embedded in your leadership team.
  • People who elevate your bookkeeper or controller instead of replacing them.

What we are not

  • A solo practitioner with no bench.
  • A tax preparer who appears at filing season and disappears.
  • A quarterly check-in that calls itself a relationship.
  • A finance-only vendor that stays in its lane.

Who we are

A team, not a solo act.

Twelve people built over fifteen years in North Texas. Most are former CFOs and controllers who have sat in the chair at companies like yours, which is why we can usually tell in the first hour where the trouble is hiding.
